About Art For Space
Founded in 2004 by Anne and Don Quibilan, Art for Space Gallery began with a humble but powerful vision: to promote art in the South. Initially focused on mainstream and Manila-based artists to audiences in the Visayas, the Gallery evolved to embrace a more contemporary direction. With the guidance of artist and curator Don Salubayba in 2010, Art for Space shifted its focus to championing young, emerging artists - a move that has since defined the Gallery’s DNA. Today, Art for Space is dedicated to discovering and nurturing young, often unknown talents, offering them a platform to launch their careers and engage with a wider audience. Our mission is to bring contemporary art closer to communities outside the traditional centers, with a particular focus on artists from CALABARZON, Bulacan, Bacolod, and beyond.
The Gallery has consistently maintained a strong presence in key local and international art events. We are proud participants of Art Fair Philippines, ManilaArt, Xavier Art Fair, and Art in the Park. Internationally, our artists have been showcased in Art Stage Singapore and at prestigious design and art shows like Maison & Object in Paris and Focus Art Fair in London. Through exhibitions, collaborations and art fairs, Art for Space continues to push boundaries and provide platforms for artists whose gifts deserve to be seen. We believe in the importance of supporting new generations of creatives and fostering a dynamic art community that extends beyond Metro Manila, connecting audiences with fresh perspectives and new narratives.

Color Commune
Tucked behind the towering peaks of Mount San Cristobal and Mount Banahaw lies color commune— a 7-hectare oasis alive with the talent and artistry of contemporary Filipino creatives. Since 2015, the place has served as a sanctuary for artists and kindred spirits, offering a communal experience of art from the bustling metro. It is home to the bi-annual Sining Labuyo Art and Music Festival (SLAM), Engkwentro and the art camp organized by the Kulay ng Pitong Lawa artist collective. Outdoor sculptures and installations punctuate its lush slopes rich with flora, while paintings in diverse styles grace the walls gallery and lodgings.
Gallery
A soaring two-story gallery doubles as a cafe where artists, cultural workers, and art enthusiast gather and connect. Over the years, its walls have hosted live painting sessions, cross-cultural collaborations, and exhibitions featuring both emerging and seasoned artists. The interior is a striking fusion of crawling vines and upcycled objects, creating a distinct and charming contrast against the gallery’s industrial facade and the surrounding greenery.
Studios
Several studios and sleeping quarters were thoughtfully constructed to support resident artists. The lilikha studio rests atop a hill, offering its occupants a closer connection to nature and the birds. Meanwhile, Hubog studio is located nearer to recreational amentities, allowing residents to find moments of leisure and camaraderie with guest and fellow artists. The very first resident artists of Color Commune were visual artists Kirk Tabanera and Andres Catig, proud graduates of Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute Science and Technology (EARIST).
Lodgings & Amenities
The Demi House is a cozy and relaxing home, thoughtfully adorned with contemporary art. At Color Commune, guests are offered a diverse range of amenities, including a calisthenics workout area, a geodesic dome for glamping, an open court, a swimming pool, and a pickleball court— each thoughtfully designed to enrich the experience of every stay.
